Getting started
How do I add a Themely widget to my Home Screen?
- Design and save a widget in the Themely app first — the widget picker needs something to show.
- Touch and hold an empty area of your Home Screen until the icons jiggle.
- Tap the + button in the top-left corner.
- Search for Themely, choose a size (small, medium, or large), then tap Add Widget.
- Touch and hold the new widget, tap Edit Widget, and choose which of your saved designs it should show.
How do I add one to my Lock Screen?
- Touch and hold your Lock Screen, then tap Customize.
- Tap Lock Screen, then tap the widget area below the clock.
- Pick Themely from the list, then tap Edit Widget to choose your saved design.
How do I set a wallpaper I saved?
- In Themely, save the wallpaper you like — it goes into your Photos library at full resolution (1290 × 2796).
- Open Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper → Photos.
- Pick the wallpaper you just saved and tap Add.
You can also open the image in the Photos app, tap the share button, and choose Use as Wallpaper.
Common questions
Why can't Themely place the widget or set the wallpaper for me?
This is the question we get most often, and the answer is an iOS rule rather than a missing feature. Apple does not allow any third-party app to add a widget to your screens or to change your wallpaper on your behalf — those actions have to be performed by you in the system UI. Themely does the part it is allowed to do: it saves your design and your wallpaper, then shows you a short guide for the two steps that only you can complete. No app on the App Store can do it for you.
My widget still shows the old design, or shows a placeholder.
Touch and hold the widget, tap Edit Widget, and confirm the correct design is selected. iOS also refreshes widgets on its own schedule to save battery, so a change can take a moment to appear. If it stays wrong, remove the widget and add it again.
I saved a design but the widget picker shows nothing to choose.
Widgets can only display designs that have been saved in the app. Open Themely, create a widget, tap save, then return to the Home Screen and edit the widget again.
Themely is asking for photo access. What does it get?
Only permission to add a photo to your library, which is what lets it save a wallpaper. It cannot read or browse your existing photos with that permission. When you pick a photo for a Photo widget, iOS uses the system picker and hands Themely only the single image you chose. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Will I lose my designs if I delete the app?
Yes. Everything Themely stores lives on your device only — we run no servers and keep no backup copy — so deleting the app removes your saved designs, favorites, and settings. Wallpapers you already saved to Photos stay in Photos.
Does Themely cost anything?
No. Every widget, wallpaper, and theme pack is free. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase, no account, and no advertising.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Every wallpaper is drawn on your device, so the whole library works with no internet connection.
