1. Who we are

AI Conversation is an iOS app that translates text, photos and speech between languages, including a face-to-face conversation mode. It is developed and published by EXO Studio, based in Hanoi, Vietnam. In this policy “we”, “us” and “our” mean EXO Studio, and “you” means the person using the app.

This policy covers the app only. It does not cover third-party websites or services that the app may link to.

2. What the app does

You type, speak, or photograph text, and the app returns a translation and can read it aloud. You do not create an account, and we do not ask you to identify yourself. We do not operate servers that store your translations.

3. The text you translate

This is the most important section of this policy, so it is worth reading in full.

On-device translation — nothing leaves your phone

Where your device supports the language pair, translation runs entirely offline through Apple’s Translation framework, and your text is not sent anywhere. iOS may ask you once to download a language pack; that download comes from Apple.

Cloud translation — Google Gemini

When on-device translation is not available — the language is not supported, or the language pack is not installed — the app sends the text you asked to translate over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to Google’s Gemini API, reached through Firebase AI Logic, which returns the translation. We send the text plus the source and target language, and nothing else: no name, no account, no email, no advertising identifier.

Please note: the app currently uses the no-cost tier of the Gemini API. Under Google’s terms for that tier, Google may use the content sent to the service to improve their products and services, and human reviewers may read a sample of it. For that reason, please do not translate passwords, financial details, health records, or other sensitive personal information. Optional provider

If we configure a Microsoft Azure Translator key in a future release, cloud translation may be routed there instead, under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. This page will be updated before that happens.

Language detection

When you leave the source language on “Detect”, the app identifies the language on your device before translating. No text is sent anywhere for detection alone.

4. Camera, photos and microphone

Camera and Photos. With your permission, the app reads text out of a photo you take or choose. Text recognition (OCR) runs on your device using Apple’s Vision framework — the image is not uploaded and we keep no copy of it. Only the recognised text may then be translated as described in section 3.

Microphone and Speech Recognition. With your permission, the app records audio and converts speech to text using Apple’s Speech Recognition. Depending on your device and language, Apple may process that audio on-device or on Apple’s servers under Apple’s own privacy policy. The resulting text is then translated as described in section 3. We do not store recordings.

Reading aloud. Text-to-speech uses the voices built into iOS. Nothing is sent to us.

5. Advertising

The app is free and supported by advertising. Ads are served by Google AdMob and, through AdMob mediation, may also come from AppLovin, Mintegral, Pangle and Meta Audience Network.

To select, deliver, frequency-cap and measure ads, these partners may process your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA / IDFV), IP address, device model and OS version, coarse location derived from the IP address, and your interactions with the ads such as impressions and clicks.

On iOS, before any data is used to track you across other companies’ apps and websites, we show Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you decline, your advertising identifier is not shared for tracking; you will still see ads, they will just be less relevant. In the EEA and the UK we also show a Google-certified consent form (UMP) where required, and you can change that choice later from the app’s settings.

6. Analytics, attribution and app services

We use a small number of services to keep the app working and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used and where installs come from.

• Firebase Analytics (Google) — aggregated usage events such as screens opened and features used, tied to an app-instance identifier rather than to you personally.
• Firebase Remote Config (Google) — lets us change app configuration, for example switching an ad placement off, without shipping an update. It reads configuration; it does not send personal data.
• Firebase App Check with Apple App Attest — proves that a request comes from a genuine copy of our app, so outsiders cannot spend our translation quota. It produces a cryptographic assertion about the app, not about you.
• Firebase Installations (Google) — a random per-installation identifier used by the services above.
• Adjust — measures which campaign an install came from and records ad revenue, using device and campaign identifiers. See the Adjust privacy policy.
• Meta (Facebook) SDK and TikTok Business SDK — measure the effectiveness of campaigns we run on those platforms, using device identifiers and app events such as installs and ad impressions.

These services receive technical and event data. They do not receive the text you translate.

8. Data retention

We run no servers of our own and keep no copy of your translations, photos or recordings. Text sent for cloud translation is processed to return a result and is retained by that provider under its own policy. Analytics, attribution and advertising data are retained by those providers under their standard retention settings. If you want data associated with your device deleted, contact us and we will pass the request on.

9. Device permissions

Each permission is requested only when you first use the matching feature, and you can withdraw any of them at any time in iOS Settings.

10. Children’s privacy

The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age where you live) and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will act on it.

11. Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Because the app has no accounts, we usually cannot link data to a named person. Where you have rights under the GDPR (EEA and UK), the CCPA/CPRA (California) or similar laws — access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, and opting out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — write to us and we will help, including passing requests on to the providers listed above.

We do not sell your personal data. Sharing an advertising identifier with ad partners for personalised advertising may count as “sharing” under California law; declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt opts you out of it.

12. International transfers

Our providers operate globally, so the data described here may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Those providers rely on their own safeguards, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

13. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the app changes. Material changes are reflected in a new effective date at the top of this page. The August 11, 2026 update records the move of cloud translation to Google Gemini and lists the advertising and attribution partners in full.
