Privacy Policy
- Quran Companion has no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.
- Your reading progress, bookmarks, settings and location stay on your device. We do not run servers that receive them.
- If you allow location access, your approximate position is used on the device to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction. To show a city name, the coordinates are sent to Apple's geocoding service.
- Prayer reminders are local notifications scheduled by your device, not push messages from us.
1. Who we are
Quran Companion (the "App") is published by EXO Studio, Hanoi, Vietnam ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the App uses on iPhone and how it is handled. It applies only to the App, not to websites or services of other companies that the App links to.
2. Information the app uses
The App does not ask for your name, email address, phone number or any other contact details, and it does not create an account. The table below lists everything the App stores or uses.

The App does not collect device identifiers for advertising, does not use analytics or crash-reporting services, and does not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone or health data.
3. How the information is processed
On your device
Prayer times are calculated on the device using the open-source Adhan library. The Qibla direction is calculated on the device from your location and compass heading. The Quran text and its metadata are bundled inside the App, so reading works offline. Your settings and progress are saved in the App's local storage on your device.
Sent off the device
When you use your current location, the App asks Apple's geocoding service (part of iOS) to turn the coordinates into a city name. This request goes from your device to Apple and is handled under Apple's privacy policy. We do not receive it. If you pick a city from the built-in list or enter coordinates manually, no geocoding request is made.
Apart from this, the App does not send your information to us or to any other party.
4. Purposes and legal bases
Location is used only to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction and to show the name of your city. It is processed with your consent, which you give through the iOS location permission and can withdraw at any time in Settings. All other information is used only to provide the App's features you request, such as remembering your bookmarks and reminders (performance of the service you asked for). We do not use any information for advertising, profiling or tracking.

The App contains no advertising, analytics, attribution, social-media or crash-reporting SDKs.
6. Sharing and sale of data
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information, and we do not receive it in the first place. The only data that leaves the device is the geocoding request to Apple described in section 3.
7. Retention and deletion
Information stays on your device until you change it in the App or delete the App. Deleting the App removes its stored data from the device. Like other app data, it may be included in your device backups (for example iCloud Backup), which are managed by Apple and by you. Pending prayer reminders are removed when you turn them off in the App.
8. Security
Because your data stays on your device, it is protected by iOS security features such as app sandboxing and your device passcode. We recommend keeping your device locked and up to date.
9. Device permissions
- Location (While Using the App): used to calculate prayer times and the Qibla direction for where you are. It is optional; you can choose a city or enter coordinates instead. You can change it in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
- Notifications: used only to show local prayer-time reminders you switch on. They are scheduled on your device. You can change this in iOS Settings > Notifications.
The App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission because it does not track you.
10. Children
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the App does not collect personal information from any user on our servers. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will help.
11. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA and similar laws)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data-protection authority. California residents have the right to know, delete and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information; we do not sell or share it.
Because we do not hold your data, you can exercise most of these rights directly on your device: edit or clear bookmarks and settings in the App, withdraw location or notification permission in iOS Settings, or delete the App to erase its data. For anything else, contact us at the address below.
12. International transfers
We do not transfer your data internationally because we do not receive it. Geocoding requests are handled by Apple, which may process them in other countries under its own privacy policy and safeguards.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy, for example if the App gains new features that change how information is handled. We will publish the new version on this page with a new "Last updated" date before the change takes effect in the App. Material changes will also be noted in the App's release notes.
